Making Masks for Heros

So back in March of 2020, in the midst of the worst of the COVID-19 Pandemic for New York State, there were no masks to be had. Rotarian and Past-President Jan Strachan pulled out her trusty Singer and began making masks. Soon other members of the club and some friends of Rotary joined in. They called themselves the Sweat Shop Gang.

Some people cut the fabric, others ironed, others sewed and still others cut and attached the ties and the elastics. In the end, they made nearly 2200 masks. They supplied Lake George EMS, Lake George Fire Department, Lake George Town and Village employees, High Peaks Hospice, Home of the Good Shepherd, Glens Falls Fire Department, Warren County Sheriffs Department and the Lake George Park Commission along with numerous individuals.
